From north to south

I have traveled a lot and I have met many people on my trips. But the best was my last holiday. I went backpacking with two friends. I decided  to do this trip  to collect photographs for my thesis and my friends helped me. 

We took a plane to Arica on January 6. Our trip along Chile started  here. Our mission was to go to Punta Arenas in two months. I really enjoyed the road trips in trucks and  family cars that picked us up in the middle of nowhere.

I visited many places, I met many people and I had many experiences. The people were very nice, they  invited us to their homes and gave us a lot of delicious food. 

What I liked the most was when we camped in the desert. The sky!!! Ohhh I loved it! No one was nearby, we were alone in the middle of nowhere, 130km away from the nearest town, with 4 L of water and without phone signal. We climbed a hill and took beautiful photos of the full moon. We listened to Pink Floyd and smoked weed haha. It was a perfect moment.  

Next day we went down the hill and hitchhiked thinking that we would wait for many hours, but the first truck picked us up and we went to the next pont in the map. :) 

My friends always told me that I was crazy for asking the driver to leave us in the middle of nowhere, but I wanted to take landscape photographs, so I wanted to stay in beautufull and dangerous places hahaha It is more exciting that way, right?  

Japan!! the sunrise country

I really want to go to Japan in the future. In fact I hope to go soon, because now I'm applying for an exchange. I want go to study arts at Tsukuba University. If I go, I will take four courses, japanese style painting (Nihonga), carving and modeling, Sho-calligraphy art (how write kanji beautifully) and western stile painting. I am really nervous for the trip :SSS

Also I want to go to learn japanese language. The language is not so difficult but kanji is the worst hahahaha. Japanese has three ways of writing, kanji, hiragana and katakana. I started to learn hiragana and katakana alphabet last year with a game called "Learn Japanese to survive". This game was very fun to play. It's an rpg game where the characters fight with the hiragana warriors hahaha. 

I started to like Japan when I was a child. Since I have memory, I liked anime series and movies. For this reason I began watching anime series while I paint and in some strange way I began to understand more and more japanese hahaha, because of this I really want to go next year and visit the country that I like so much. 

My last blog (NOP)

My experience with this blog was a little disappointing. Because I didn’t manage to do this in the time required. This semester I couldn’t put all my attention in the English class. For this reason I apologize to the teacher. 

However, if I put aside that this blog is an evaluated exercise, I really liked to write about the topics that the teacher asked. I think that I wrote this blog in a very personal way. Every blog that I wrote, I did with time and dedication, writing my personal experiences and opening my life to the blog. I think that I could wrote more freely, because I wrote this blog so late and no classmates could read this.

I really liked writing the blog. I take this like a personal diary where I talk about me and my experiences.

I hope that my teacher likes this blog and that she has compassion for me hahaha. This semester I had many difficulties in university. I had to do many assignments after I took a year off because of my health problems. It was very hard to do.

My favourite food.

My favourite food is sushi!!! My boyfriend and I order food twice a week. Most of the time we order sushi. We frequently call Kyo Sushi restaurant, to the point that they know us and ask if we want the same as always hahaha. We always order 24 pieces of mushrooms and cream cheese wrapped in tempura. My boyfriend likes to eat with soy sauce and I prefer teriyaki sauce. 

Since we order food every time, the delivery man knows me and he says hi to me in the street. It is very funny when I meet him, because he honks his motorcycle’s horn every time that he sees me. 

Sushi is really delicious. I love japanese culture and eating their food. My favourite sushi is with shrimp. I like hosomaki sushi, because it's simple and delicious. Also I love hot rolls, they are rolls wrapped in tempura and these sushi rolls are our favorite with my boyfriend. Other sushi that is really good but not all people like, is sashimi sushi. This sushi consists of fresh raw fish with a great texture and a light taste.

Naked body.

This semester I really liked to study the naked body. It’s a topic that I enjoy because when I was starting in art, I dabbled into the shape of the body. It’s great to see the body through the eyes of an artist and not like a sexual object. When I studied the body and its color, curves and gestures. I understand that the body is an object of art and contemplation. I abandoned the thought of the body as a sexual object and I started to see it as an object of artistic expression. 

In painting class, we started to study the body in a distorted way. My professor told us that we must paint a fragmented body. In this way, we can focus on painting the texture of the skin, leaving aside the shape. I think this is a great way of learning, because the texture is the most difficult part to make. If you manage to translate the texture without the context of the shape, you can say that you are a good painter. 

I really enjoy painting and learning many forms of techniques. I hope when I find my way of painting, people will like it and love my artwork.

This app is great !!

If you are related with the art world,you must know "Google Arts & Culture". It´s a great app where you can serch a specific artwork in HD. From the Gallery, users can zoom in on a particular artwork to view the picture in greater detail. You can even zoom to the point where you can see the brushstroke of Seuret in "A sunday on la Grande Jatte". It's amazing!!

Also users can log in with their Google Account to create their own collection and these artworks are protected with copyright. It is really useful to assemble your artistic portfolio. 

The proyect was launched on February 1, 2011 by Google and it´s  great, I can find masterpieces in a really good quality. However, there are many artworks that are not in the app. 

Every day Google updates the app, the platform now features more than 32,000 artworks from 46 museums, and image acquisition is underway at the remaining partner museums.  Someday, perhaps, all artworks will be in the web for us. 

I love Lovecraft!!

My favorite writer is H. P. Lovecraft. He was an American writer who was born in August 20, 1890. His most famous work was "The Call of Cthulhu", which inspired the formation of the Lovecraft Circle. This group wrote horror stories about the Cthulhu mythos, all of them in the same universe of madness and cosmic monsters. 

I really like Lovecraft stories and he has many short stories too. I discovered him through my boyfriend, he really likes it and since we both love RPGs, I bought him the guide book so he could be a gamemaster. He liked the book so much that, with my friends we meet once a month and play the role game of "Call of Cthulhu", submerging ourselves in a world full of horror and despair.

I read "At the mountains of madness", when I did it I felt in constant suspense. I didn´t know what would happen next and I remember that when I finished the book I thought: What if this is real and possible? ... I was afraid to think about it. 

My hitchhiking trip

This year I went hitchhiking across Chile with two friends. We started in the north, we took a plane and flew to Arica. The initial plan was to end the trip in Punta Arenas, but one guy had to return to Santiago when we were in Temuco. However, my other friend and I continued to the south alone.

This picture was taken in Austral highway, when we climbed "Cerro Castillo". This place was really amazing and I loved it!! The trekking route was seven kilometers long and one kilometer high from start to finish.

With my friend we practiced (amateur) fast mountain descent or in other words, Running Downhill. We ran 7 kilometers in 1 hour 20 minutes!! It was great. When I was going down the mountain I felt my blood flowing through all of my body, my heart was beating very hard too. I felt a lot of adrenaline at that moment.

It was hard but it's a really beautiful place and I would like to return one day. 

My favorite series

It's hard to decide which is my favorite series, I have seen so many that choosing only one is very difficult. But, if there is something that I'm sure of, it's that my favourite series is an anime hahaha.  

But, since I can only choose one series, it must be Detective Conan. It is about an adolescent detective who turns into a child because of a drug and he looks for an organization that is dedicated to carrying out organized crime internationally.This series was released in 1996 and is still being broadcast.

When I was a child I watched it every day at night in the "etc" TV channel with my brother. Now I watch it online in my computer. I am currently waiting for a new chapter to be released.

 I following this series since I was a child. I remember that in school, I saw more than 500 episodes in a month!!!

GAMER PC

I love my computer hahaha. How could I not?  I crafted it myself. I always  wanted a gamer PC where I could play with my boyfriend and my friends every night. I worked all summer to buy it. I wanted a fast computer with a lot of storage space. Then I started to study how to make a computer from scratch. I looked for a RAM, motherboard, GPU, CPU, case and everything  I needed to build my computer.

One thing I like the most about my computer is that the screen is very long. It  is perfect for watching movies. It is also very colorful at night since it is full of lights that illuminate my room.

Every night I lie down in my bed and I listen to post rock while I see the lights in my aquarium. It's very relaxing. It really was worth it working so much for it.

My passion career.

I always liked art. When I was a child I did oil painting . My grandmother taught me how to paint. Every summer, I went to her house and we painted together. Even though, that was really the only thing we had in common, hahaha.

When I had to decide my future, I was nervous and insecure to study arts. They all told me that I wouldn't make a living from arts ... but an opportunity arose when I was 16 years old. 

I traveled to France to see my brother, who was in an exchange program,  and I traveled alone in Barcelona, Spain for 10 days. I stayed at the house of a chilean painter, who was my uncle's friend. He taught me how an artist lives.

This trip was very important for me, because thanks to him, I decided to study what I love.

I love role games!!!

My name is Nicol and I like to play role games with my friends. We meet once a month to play Dragons and Dungeons or other role games like Call of Cthulhu.

 I have a character that is a Khajiit and his name is Neros. He is a half human that looks like a black panther. His class is a thief and he loves blood.  In the story, Neros is a mercenary who kills for money. His race exiled him because he was a half blood, thanks to this, he always carried a strong resentment. I know, it's sad hahaha.

With my friends we also enjoy playing board games.  There are nights when we don´t sleep and we play until sunrise.
